Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy Experience

During your one-on-one initial evaluation our highly trained physical therapists will assess your gait, movement, posture, joint mobility, soft tissue extensibility, and strength to identify faulty patterns that are causing or perpetuating your pain. Once the sources of your pain are determined, we will begin to work on them through a combination of manual therapy techniques and exercise. During each 45 minute one-on-one appointment, you will receive hands on treatment in a private treatment room aimed at restoring joint motion, soft tissue extensibility, and releasing the restrictions that are causing your pain. Once the restrictions have been sufficiently addressed, the physical therapist will guide you through improving postural habits, movement strategies, and overall strength and flexibility. Exercise can be done in private treatment rooms, in our state of the art Pilates Equipment Studio, in our Pilates Mat and Yoga gym, or our central gym area.

Pilates

Pilates Sessions

Our state of the art Pilates Studio is equipped with a Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze Table, and Wunda/Combination Chair. Your physical therapist may utilize these pieces of equipment during your one-on-one appointment to improve your strength, flexibility, and/or movement patterns. You may also learn Pilates Mat programs as part of a home exercise program.

Pilates Group Classes are offered at our facility as a continuum of care to promote wellness. Instruction is led by Courtney Keller, MS, PT, Professional Pilates Instructor, to a limited number of students. Classes include self-stretching techniques, preparation exercises, and beginner to intermediate mat exercises depending on the level of students.

Exercise

Are you ready for Exercise?

At our facility, we do not prescribe exercise until your body is stable enough to perform it safely. In addition to your “typical” pieces of therapy equipment like theraband, theraputty, theraballs, and free weights, our physical therapists remain up to date on the non-traditional pieces. These include a Kettler system, Pilates equipment, Kettlebells, and the Wii System with Wii Fit. We can offer Running evaluations on our treadmill or outdoors if necessary.

Chiropractic

The Chiropractic Experience

In accordance with the philosophy of our group, all chiropractic treatment sessions are one-on-one and last 30 to 60 minutes. Your chiropractor will do a full biomechanical analysis to determine structures that are causing your pain. Additionally, Dr. Niemchak utilizes laboratory and physical testing to determine the body’s stressors and nutritional needs. He then provides a customized step-by-step treatment plan including manual chiropractic adjustments with nutritional and dietary modifications.

Acupuncture

The Medical Acupuncture Experience

During each one-hour session with Dr. Armstrong, the patient will receive analysis of both acupuncture needs and medical needs in accordance with Western physiology and medicine. Based on the assessment of our skilled physician your treatment session will consist of one or several state of the art techniques. These include Neuroanatomical Acupuncture where points are selected for their anatomical and physiological effects. Trigger Point Deactivation uses delicate acupuncture needles to relax tight muscles and tendons. Acupoint injection is a technique where small amounts of lidocaine are injected in acupuncture points to provide longer acting stimulation than what can be obtained with an acupuncture needle alone. Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation enhances acupuncture, and it is based on nerve segments to produce pain relief. The ability to combine the best of traditional acupuncture with Western medicine assures the patient the best possible outcome.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance can be disorders of your inner ear. Physical therapy techniques have been proven to be very effective treating these disorders. During your initial evaluation, your posture, balance, and symptoms would be assessed. Your treatment will depend on your level of impairment and may include balance training, canalith repositioning maneuvers, and strengthening indicated by your initial evaluation with Courtney Keller, MS, PT, PPI. You will receive on-going home education and modifications as needed.
